We say Terence Cao; you’re our T3 Man for November and a dashing one
at that!
Would you consider yourself a ‘Gadget Junkie’?
Not really. I stick to more basic stuff such as my mobile, my palm-top
dictionary, iPod and such. I do not want to become overly reliant on
gadgets. I see some of my friends multi-tasking a lot with many things
together such as Playstation 2 and iPod, being very gadget boys. For me, I
usually do not do all these at once, and would opt to leave my gadgets at
home sometimes while I take a break to chill. It makes me feel more
‘liberated’ that I can get away from those things once in awhile.
Then again, personally I feel that men and gadgets come together. Cars and
gadgets are like a family to me. It’s all part and parcel of the ‘men thing’.
As long as it’s affordable, boys will just be naturally inclined to want to
own them. That’s why gadgets are like second to nature for us.
But you do keep a few trusty gadgets on you at all times, surely?
Indefinitely my trusty mobile, iPod and my Palm dictionary. My Palm
dictionary goes everywhere with me as I would need it in different
countries especially when traveling, for work mainly. It’s my most
trusted possession.
What about technology that excites you?
(Laughs excitedly) Really, I think it encompasses the element of surprise. We will always be on the lookout for news in technology. It’s something that connects people and keeps people excited with something to talk about. Something that you can never imagine and this always amazes me. It’s never ending I guess.
If you could list one gadget item you covet, what would it be?
Woah… That’s really hard to decide. I want all of them! (Laughs) That’s
what I am working so hard for! Just one item would be this new monitor
screen that takes up the whole wall. It can be seen in Korea and is pretty
popular there. I am already saving my wall for it. Something I am really
looking forward to.
What do you look for in a mobile phone?
Definitely style and fun factor. My phone has to project the fun elements
beside basic features like MP3s, camera, and 3G. I once got a hold of this
Blackberry. As much as it is useful, I can’t see how it compliments my
character at all. It’s not really me at the end of the day. It doesn’t suit my
simple personality.
Where do you usually get your gadgets?
Funan is my usual haunt. I usually listen to friends and trust the reviews
about a particular item before deciding to purchase. Like when we guys
get together, besides the usual girl topics (fidgets a little), we talk about
them gadgets. Thus threading our purchases based on our exchange
makes me feel more certain about my purchase.
Being a celebrity, do you sometimes find it difficult having to
scout and shop?
Not at all. I treat it as a whole different experience and shopping gives me
a good vibe. I do not even mind haggling over prices and such as we are
talking about purchases here and a good price is important!
Is there one particular gadget that you must have? So I reckon that would be your dream home? You seem to be one of the elite fashion savvy male celebrities we There’s no doubt then that you are smooth with the ladies with Travel much? OK, and lastly, complete the following sentence, “I am a T3 Man
I think it would have to be home theatre system. I am a person who loves
the comfort of my home and importance on a home’s comfort is pretty
high to me. A good set of speakers, good monitor, preferably a state of
the art set. That would be an ultimate indulgence for me.
Well. To me, a nice dream home would have nothing to do with the
house itself, as long as you are comfortable. So yes, I would say that I
would be even quicker to label it my dream home if it had a home
theatre system. Of course, it would also help if it was clean, bright and
cheerful. That describes something that is more me.
have here in Singapore. Any particular grooming regime or advice
you would like to share with our readers?
No particular regime. I just feel that confidence is the most important.
For me, I like to be clean and be as fresh as possible, not rely on
cosmetics as they can get pretty addictive. For guys maybe just the
basics. Men should just embrace a sport and portray confidence in
whatever they do. Constantly update yourselves with trends and
happenings around for example through the variety of magazines we
have. It’s akin to our monthly bibles to update us during our busy
schedules. This should be one thing I feel our men here in Singapore
should do.
your calibre. Have you ever gone out with a tech savvy girl?
I like women who are intelligent and confident. There are actually quite a
few tech savvy girls I have seen. I have actually gone out with one and I
must say that I found her attractive.
I love Europe, all parts of Asia; in fact I do like all the places I have visited.
Traveling is a totally different experience I guess, I am always fascinated
by all the different cultures and sights so I’d love any destination.
However, if there is to be just one place I would love to go to that would
have to be St Petersburg. I heard a lot about this place, would like to visit
it for its architecture, the buildings, just the place itself. I think it might be
inspiring just to be there.
because…” (Guys I know we are lame here but let’s just have a go
and hear what Terence has to say, shall we?)
Because….it’s the T that keeps the T going. It’s the Technology that keeps
Terence going.
(We have to hand it to him. He’s a creative man! Cool!)
