Microsoft condemns homosexuality?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Recently, an Xbox Live gamer, Teresa got her account suspended for stating in her bio that she was a lesbian. The worst part about it was that she found herself harassed by players and when she appealed to Microsoft for help, she got suspended instead.

Reason? The information was just too offensive.

HOLD on a tick, let me enlighten you on another case of similar nature, only way more bizzare.

Richard Gaywood also got his account suspended due to the offensive nature of his name. Yeah, that’s his real name. It seems like to Microsoft, it doesn’t matter whether it’s your real name or not, as long as its offensive, it has got to go. Read more about this case here.

These cases have caused quite a buzz over the network. Microsoft may be trying to protect the Xbox Live network with a bunch of policies which are supposedly beneficial to the general crowd, but by doing this, they are actually making a stand that they too are homophobes perhaps?

Boy. Seems like the tough life of society and in the streets are reaching into our games now.

New features for the Windows 7 build

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Seems like more improvement and features are in bound for the upcoming beta build of Windows 7. In total, there will be 36 new features and here are some of them.

Aero Peek—where all the windows on the desktop become transparent except the one you’re highlighting—will now work with Alt+Tab

Pressing the Windows key and a number key wouldn’t just launch a new instance of the corresponding app, but will now switch over to the app if it’s running.

The keyboard and right-clicking are more multi-touch.

The Windows Media Player UI will be better.

Let there be light, 100 times more!

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Cover your eyes, or don some shades, cause the Night Vision Chronograph by Alexandre Christie is going to light up your day.

The watch is made with high quality stainless steel and is powered by the latest Japanese and Swiss movements. It is both water and shock resistant and glows up to 100 times brighter than an ordinary watch. Also, it can glow continuously for more than 20 years(wow?)

Well this is certainly cool. Especially in a club. You would definitely stand out and it may help you pick up chicks. “Hey, it was nice chatting with you, OH MY GODDDDD wuuuuuuut’s the timeeeee, time just flew with you!” Instant score,

Yahoo!, Digg and AOL gets owned

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

23 year-old Brisbane-based entrepreneur Leon Hill has did the seemingly impossible task by beating the above three companies at their own game, all by himself.

How, you ask. Well Hill has created uSocial.net , an online traffic generation business that takes advantage of flaws in the system of social bookmarking sites like Digg, Yahoo! Buzz, Stumbleupon and AOL’s Propeller.

Apparently after some research and testing, Hill managed to find a way to increase the amount of votes a page would receive–up to 1,000 in as little as 24 hours. This is a major plus for small business owners, where they can pay as little as $200 for more than 100,000 people visiting their site in less than a day.

Seems like David can beat Goliath in this modern world. Check out the website to see how it actually works. Interesting. And no, it’s not illegal, so relax.

Sony has launched its next generation of digital voice recorders from the entry-level BX, PC-linked and premium SX-series. With up to 4GB of storage, users can record up to 1,505 hours worth. That’s a lot of voice I must say. With three different series, there’s certainly a lot of variety of users! Also, with all the different high-end gadgets today i.e. handphones, laptops, consoles and so on, it’s easy to forget about the little yet essential things.
