Not your Average Robocop June 2010
Alright, so it was not really Robocop that we spotted in town, but rather an interschool tournament to find out who the best robot designer is. Coming on the 19-25 June 2010, this internationally recognized tournament sees the brains from schools from all around the world compete for the ultimate title as – Robot Genius. Fine. So it is not really a competition for such a ‘cool’ title, but still, it would be pretty neat to tell everyone you met that you are in fact, the Ultimate Robot Genius.
Amongst the 300 local students competing to represent Singapore in this 2010 showdown, a child as young as 7-year old has been spotted. Talk about cultivating the young! Still, with over 3,000 participants from over 40 countries, an amazing variety of lively performance can be viewed.
From robots kicking footballs. Machines that perform rescue missions. Automatons that take on an uncanny ‘human’-like’ artificial intelligence that seemingly blurs the lines of what is real and what is man-made; one word describes this event- Amazing.
