Obama’s Speech on Technology & the Internet

November 11th, 2009

Perhaps one of the best presidential election yet to come, mainly due to his ability to speak to his people via grassroot means and the internet that was also known to be his one source of gathering supporters, Obama launches into a Q&A session in Shanghai. Not only does he talk about the power of the internet, and how though he does not like to be criticized, he encourages this interactivity. he also elaborates on how he won the election via facebook and all the social-networking means available to on the worldwideweb today. A rather interesting talk from the man himself.

How to Cool Yourself, the Primitive Way

November 10th, 2009

As the weather heats up to a fever pitch, there are some ways to keep the heat off and stay cool as a cucumber would be. We have segregated the ones that we have employed and are currently utilizing at this very instant to keep cool in a non-air con situation.

  1. Just add water. The relief is almost immediate, and will last for up to one hour or more.
    • Ball up and soak a t-shirt in the sink, wring it out, put it on and sit in a lawn chair (or other chair that lets air through to you) in front of a fan. Re-wet as it dries. Make sure not to soak it with cold water. It can be colder than you think. Instead use lukewarm water so you get cool without freezing. Using a synthetic shirt will ensure no "wet T-shirt" look.

Gender-bending now a bannable offense – In China

October 31st, 2009

Posted by: Jaradcel from www.gx.com.sg

Big Brother is watching you, and he’s now making sure you don’t lie (or live out your fantasies or… whatever) in MMO’s. China MMO company Aurora Technology has announced that players will now have to create and play characters based strictly on their real-life sex in the MMO game King of the World.
How do they hope to enforce the law? You’ll have to get yourself ID’ed with a webcam shot of yourself while playing. Apparently, this news is almost a month old now, but has only recently come to our attention as well. Oddly enough, according to GamesPolitics.com, the ruling only seems to be aimed at men who play as women, but not vice versa.

Cab Drivers watching TV on-the-Go…

October 31st, 2009

You know, we’ve made plenty of jokes about the DMB mobile TV functionality found in seemingly every GPS unit released in South Korea, but it looks like taxi drivers in the country take their distractions seriously — serious enough to go to court.

That issue apparently came to a head recently when one cab driver challenged a $500 fine he received for watching TV while on the job, which had apparently become a relatively common means to beat boredom during traffic jams but was banned last year by a local regulation in the city of Seoul. While the court obviously didn’t go so far as to condone the practice (watching TV while driving was apparently a factor in upwards of 200 accidents in the country last year), it did rule that the regulation in Seoul was illegal because it was based on a 1961 law that’s been superseded. But really? What’s the rush to watch TV when you have to keep your eye on the traffic at all time, regardless of the traffic jams and all?

The Rabbids are Going home!

October 31st, 2009

We really wanted more from the Rabbids sequels to Rayman, but seriously this gameplay seems out of this world. Coming to a DS and Wii near you, this game sees the Rabbids trying to reach the moon in an attempt to go home. Why the moon? Well, let us just say that the Rabbids made up their minds to go there as their new ‘conquered’ hometown… Great family fun!
